Delta loads new Minneapolis to Mexico City service

dlimageDelta Air Lines has loaded its recently approved Minneapolis/St. Paul to Mexico City, Mexico non-stop service. Daily flights will begin on December 18, 2010 and will use 124-seat Airbus A319 aircraft.

Delta received approval from the US DOT to start this new route on May 27. Approvals from the Mexican government are still pending.

The new service is the first service from MSP to a non-beach destination in Mexico.

    I think MSP-Paris is a merger success story. This route did quite poorly the first year Northwest operated it. The aircraft (A330-300) was too big and Northwest as too Amsterdam focused (vs AF in Paris).

    With the merger, Delta was able to right size the equipment and use its Paris connections with Air France to make this flight year-round viable.
